Pubs

The village of South Zeal is blessed with two outstanding pubs both of which welcome the festival with open arms and are always full of music and singing throughout the weekend.

The Oxenham Arms is a 12th century former monastery and is ideally located near the bottom of the village. A truly beautiful building and always a hive of activity during the festival with sessions in every available space!

The Kings Arms is a traditional local pub and is also a beautiful old thatched building over 500 years old. The Kings is home to the well known and well respected Orchard Family during the festival weekend. They keep the session in the main bar going continuously and welcome everyone to take part. A trip to the Dartmoor Folk Festival isn't complete without seeing the wonderful playing, singing and stepdancing of this traditional gypsy family. There's also room for other sessions both inside and out during the weekend.

The Seven Stars in the neighbouring village of South Tawton and The Devonshire Inn in neighbouring village of Sticklepath are also folk friendly pubs and would welcome musicians and singers.
