***************************
In 2020 it went virtual and in 2021 it combined with Zale Fayre. This year Dartmoor is pleased to be back for a full weekend festival. As with many organisations we have had time to reflect over the last couple of years on what’s important and with this in mind are making just a few changes to make things more manageable. Don’t worry we are still keeping all the elements that make the Dartmoor Folk Festival special.
There will be a fantastic concert program of top folk acts in the Victory Hall (see line up for details). Please remember that entry to these concerts will be limited to weekend ticket holders only.
The festival have worked hard over the years to keep the traditions of Dartmoor alive and to make it accessible to as many people as possible. With this in mind the committee have decided that this year all the events apart from the Concerts & Ceilidh will be free to enter with donations appreciated on the day. Please remember to bring cash as card payments are not available.
With glorious views of the Beacon and relaxing atmosphere, the recreation field will be the place to head to on both afternoons and into the early evening. There will be the traditional Dartmoor Step & Broom dance competitions, guest appearances, music, dance displays, morris teams, children’s entertainment, duck race plus a wide selection of craft stalls, a catering van, ice creams and the all important Festival bar. There will be a sizeable marquee just in case of inclement weather to allow all events to carry on.
Saturday morning there will be Step & Broom dance workshops, teaching all you need to know to be able to enter the afternoon competitions. So, if you’ve never given it a go come along to the school hall.
Music & song sessions will be held throughout the weekend in the Kings Arms and school hall. On Sunday there will also be a Dartmoor ramble and folk service in South Tawton church.
